Clevedon  (Clisdon, ) Somerset, England –  The town is situated amongst a group of small hills alongside the River Severn estuary. In the Victorian era Clevedon became a popular seaside town. Walton Castle is a 17th century fort located on Castle Hill built sometime between 1615 and 1620. John Irish “The Immigrant” (7XGGF) was born here in 1611. He arrived to the new world in 1629.

The county is largely rural with many small villages, varied landscapes and has outstanding natural beauty. Mary Miller (8X GGM) was born here in 1605. Her arrival to New England was about 1625. Robert Elwell (8XGGF) was also born in Dorset in 1609 and Jane Dolliver (8XGGM) in 1617.

Norfolk is a low-lying county in the East of England and its Northern and eastern boundaries are the North Sea. Norfolk was vulnerable to invasion because of its location and forts were built to defend against it. Benjamin Albee (7XGGF) was born here in 1614.

        

RISLEY, DERBYSHIRE, ENGLAND

Risley Hall Risley Hall is a country home, now a hotel and spa set on 17acres.

Located in the Derbyshire countryside near the village of Risley, England. Believed to be have been the manor once owned by the family of Elizabeth Risley (7X GGM.) It is believed that Elizabeth and her brother, Richard arrived in New England with 100 members of their church in 1633.

 

THORNBURY, ENGLAND

Thornbury was the birthplace of  Thomas Thayer and Margery Wheeler (8XGG Parents.) They married there in 1618 and had 5 children before coming to the new world in 1630. William Hayward was also born in Thornbury in 1617.

 

WAPPING, LONDON, ENGLAND

Wapping is a district of East London and situated between the north bank of Thames and the ancient thoroughfare simply called The Highway. It’s proximity to the river gives it a strong maritime character and was inhabited by sailors, mast-makers, boat-builders, block-makers and many other trades that supported the seafarer. Wapping was also the site of “Execution Dock” where pirates and other water-borne criminals faced execution by hanging from a gibbet constructed close to the low water mark. Their bodies would be left dangling until they had been submerged three times by the tide. Captain, John Twigg Hodges (8XGGF) born here in 1595. As a sea captain he made several voyages back and forth from England to America before settling himself and his family in Massachusetts about 1625.
